How are all your wire connections made? If you have any wire taps, I would ditch them ASAP! Solder/shrink wrap/electrical tape/zip ties is the only way to make a secure connection. A butt connector, wire tap or crimp connector can rattle loose.

When I hacked up the harness this time around I pulled out EVERY butt splice I had done and soldered and heat shrink wrapped every connection.

On a side note here, sometimes when I come down there from up here at elevation (like you were in NM), it takes a little bit for the truck to relearn idle and some times dies, or almost dies till it has some time to relearn all the different idle situations. That wouldn't explain your hard starting though...

Yeah I dunno what was going on. I messed with the injector driver box, fuel pump relay, and ignition relay and somehow fixed it. Once I get the tune dialed in I think I'm gonna put it into full closed loop so it is less affected by altitude changes.

On your FP relay do you have spade connectors going to it? If so, those can wiggle loose and can be soldered. Even where they crimp to the wire should be soldered. From what it sounds like, you have a loose connection for sure. The fact that you looked at some stuff and moved wires around and the problem went away says that it's a connection.

I've never looked at how the stock electrical box is set up, but I'm still using the stock relays and everything. Only aftermarket piece is the injector driver box.

Mine had the same problems and it turn out to be a splice I could have sworn I made good but was bad...the IAC. If the IAC is not operating correctly it is 500 to 700 rpm difference at 70mph with no throttle. Huge lean. Huge! If your harness is hacked, I am with vanilla, make those connections good.

FWW 50 cranking psi on the pump is not good either on a 2001 fuel system IMO. I'd be looking for higher than 55 at least. 50 is fine to start it and keep it idling, but it is definitely something to take a look at.

His harness has about 150 splices in it! But they are all sodered and shrink wrapped

Problem finally got bad enough that the truck wouldn't start at all, gave Mike and I a chance to trace it back to the driver box. When I bypass the driver box, the truck starts, but as soon as I put it back inline it won't start.

Thank god you finally found it... sometime you have to break it to see what the hell the problem is... So new driver box on its way?
