TBSS timing problems
so I'm a tunign noob... but I can't figure out what is causing this thing to pull so much timing WOT.
Full disclosure this is not a TBSS, its a 2008 saab 9-7x that originally came with the 5.3. It blew a rod bearing and I replaced it with a L96. I put a 2003 Z06 cam in it to eliminate the VVT, and it has a 3000 RPM 287mm converter in it. I matched all the fueling tabled to the injectors that came in the L96, and just as a base tune I matched airflow to a stock TBSS with the LS2. I have played with the timing tables, and I think this thing should take a ton more timing than a stock LS2 even running on 87 octane. I am getting some KR at weird spots, but the real issue here si that thje thing just pulls a shitload of timing and I have NO IDEA WHY. Can you guys take a look at the tune file and this log and tell me what you see? |
Damn it the files are too big...
:rage: If you guys think you can help I will email you the files. |
Always tune VE and MAF before spark tables. Detonation is bad for your engine.
|
Detonation is not the reason its pulling timing though... if anything its running a little rich
|
08 has the wonderful virtual VE.
|
Host the files on Mediafire .
|
never used mediafire... ill try that now.
|
I gotta restart my comp... not doing that now.
No one wants to take a stab at it, huh? lol |

Beyond that, you need to look at your wiring and all of your sensors. Make sure that everything is correct mechanically & electronically before you proceed. There are a thousand different things that can give you problems. |
Roger, I have looked at his tune and logs. His fuel is pretty close, close enough it should not be a issue. I dont have anything other then the logs he sent me but its pulling a shit load of timing somewhere on a WO pull but once it hits part way through 2nd gear it stops pulling timing and settles in. Its weird, I have seen this before on that type PCM but I forget what was causing it. When it pulls the timing it is not showing under KR, how if its from Burst etc I dont know as I dont know what config he used. It gets the occasional hit of 1-2 degree KR but with his fueling being rich enough ( for intensive purposes, 880-890 02's) and timing nothing crazy I think the KR that it does show is false.
