stand alone transmission controller

For my project I will need to use a stand alone transmission controller. I will be using a custom made EFI that I have to program my own but it has no means to control the transmission.

I have a 4l60e and need a controller for this, does anyone used a stand alone controller before? Which one have you used and why? There are so many, MSD, TCI and then there's also the compu shift, is it so much better then the others that it can justify the price? It is twice the prize of the others...

Thanks for any input.

does it have any drawbacks compared to the compu shift? I'm only wondering why it costs half of the compu.
