Silverado/tahoe alternator compatibility
What’s up guys I have a 99 nbs 5.3 silverado I’m doing the efan swap from a 05+ silverado and want to upgrade from the 105a alternator.
I found a good deal on a 05 tahoe 160a alternator and was wanting to know if it was compatible and if not, what is. I have searched through threads and they all talk about swaps from other trucks not a tahoe.
The 160a is a factory kw1 from a 2005 tahoe

Beginning 2005, chevy silverado used an 8302 alternator, with a 2 pin plug. The alternator will fit, but you will need to adapt your 4 pin plug to the 2 pin alternator. harness.
Worst choice would be a 2005 Tahoe, which came with a really shitty Bosch 11075, most of those have burned themselves out by now.
A better choice is the very common Delco AD series 8292, direct bolt in 145 amp rated, most will actually test at 155 amps, and will throw a solid 125 amps at idle.
If you cant find one local, shoot me a PM.

can you elaborate how to adapt the wiring between the different connectors? i know on my stock alternator I have a flat connector and the newer ones have a square connector. All the alternators locally are the newer ones with the square plug and would like to know how to get one to work on my truck. I did the efan swap and the 105a isn’t enough and need to change it ASAP. I believe 05+ years have the squat plug correct?
You can get a 145 AMP version from an 03-04 Tahoe/suburban that has the correct style plug on it.
opt code KG3
03-04 Suburban/Tahoe, Yukon XL/Yukon, Escalade, Denali
10-15 Express Van
I believe you need a slightly longer belt for that option too.
