Default Service Engine light

I'm having trouble tracking down this problem. Service engine light comes on and flashes ONLY when driving, when I slow down to an idle it goes off. I use the EFI Live scanner to try and pull the code but nothing comes up....I've even tried to pull it while driving and still nothing. Along with the annoying light flashing on my dash, this prevents my converter from locking up into OD. While driving I clear the code-the converter locks in and the light goes off...A few seconds later the converter unlocks and the light comes back on. If anyone can help figure this out I'd greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like random misfire. In that case the diagnostic misfire count thresholds would need adjusting.

Would you happen to know the file code to search it in EFI Live?

Flashing ses light indicates catalyst damaging misfire. If no faults stored, the fist thing I would look into is old plugs...plus just looking at them will probably tell you what’s going on. Can you feel the miss when the light is flashing?

You'll want to log all of the "Misfire, Current" codes and see where you're popping the most codes. I've attached a PID selection file that you can use when logging with the V7.5 software.

Thanks guys. I'll log those files and see what I can figure out. For some reason I can't open that file...

To use that file, go to file / open / open PID selection file.

No, can't feel any misfires when it is flashing.

Well that’s good. Get that data logged and posted so we can look at it.

I don't know how to post a log file.

I went for a ride and I am getting misfires from a few different cylinders but mainly #6. The spark plugs are brand new factory AC Delco and the plug wires are also brand new MSD wires. I'm assuming it could be the coils since they are original from 1999 and have taken a **** ton of abuse, but also could maybe be an injector???
