Perhaps I may have jumped the gun

Well I had my first partial day of logging and tuning today. I had a lot of fun adjusting the spark a little and logging the result...etc. I still have an issue with KR but i am sure with some help and some reading i will get it all worked out. I can see myself getting VERY caught up in this tuning thing...it is extremely addictive.... :judge:. I did not get to carried away with stuff today because i dont have my wideband yet.

Where have i jumped the gun? LOL, well with my logging and tuning today i see that at WOT runs i am pushing 225*F with my IAT's (7psi). This is on a very low humidity day with ambient temps around 80*. When i had the Dmax intercooler, i was seeing IAT's maxing at 120*F with high humidity and ambient temps around 98*. Now i am thoroughly convinced (like some here tried to tell me... :eyes: ), that there was something seriously wrong with my tune. My truck is running well right now, and its running better than it was with the Dmaxc I/C that was giving me HALF the IAT's that i have now. Explain how in the world my truck would run better with 225* IAT's than it did with 115* IAT's? Boost is within 1psi of what it was with the Dmax I/C (its 1psi higher now). I dont get it at all, so i think i jumped the gun pulling that stuff out so quickly before giving the tuning thing a shot myself and not just leaving it up to my tuner. He was good, but i think something was getting overlooked.

So, no hard feelings. I am glad to have the power myself now and i did about 4 tunes today logging each one. I created a KR map to see where my knock was popping up so i could dial into those areas on the timing table for adjustment. Got to be honest though, i couldnt get it all out. I was going to post a couple of the tunes up here with the logs of each tune for some possible input if anyone has the time to look them over. I admit, i still have A LOT of learning to do but it will come with time. I think i need to get some sort of starting point (base) to work from and go from there. Is there a good rule of thumb as to where to start with tuning? What to log and what to start adjusting? Anyway, as soon as i finish dinner, i am going to post up a few tunes and logs if anyone can give me some feedback, that would be great.

You wont be able to post your tunes because the only Valid file extensions are bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip.
Its a little detail I've been meaning to put in the site suggestion box. We cant upload tunes for people to look at. You have to email them.
Unless you know how to convert them to a .zip file, which I guess you do.:judge:

I'd say, you have auto tune right? auto tune that ve table. You'd be amazed what dip here or there would cause some kr. It will soften it up at least.

The difference in your tune...spark? and IAT/ECT spark advance (or in your case retard..LOL no pun intended on that one) I bet. There's just not much to WOT tuning. Spark and fuel. Take away spark when it's hot, "too hot" is for you to find out.

I wonder if GM is as gun shy with the big blocks as small blocks on the kr settings?

He'll need to upgrade to a 2 bar map and OS before autotuning. Running supercharged with the MAF disabled on a 1 bar MAP would be asking for trouble.

I'll try and take a look at these tunes you played around with a bit later on tonight Jimmie. I'll shoot you an email with any updates/suggestions.

ahhh, i forgot he wasn't going custom OS, just 1 bar. Cool though. Still same advice, just some learning curve in it...tune (dial) that ve table in and then attack the MAF. Tha will surely give you some tinkering around time. ;)

You'll be able to get that fueling dialed in nicely once you do some AutoVE tuning with the wideband and 2 Bar MAP sensor. Should take care of most of the KR. I can see that it already started to drop off in the areas where you threw a little more fuel at it.

Thanks Justin, I am sure you got plenty of other stuff to do so I appreciate any time you take to look at it.

I want to go 2 bar and custom OS, but i need to get familiar with the program and what im doing in it first. Once i get comfortable making changes and i get the WB installed, i will be more apt to try things i think.

Thats the thing, its not just WOT, its part throttle too. Look at the log, i have KR at part throttle quite a bit.

Can you explain why? I want to do some logging and fill in my VE table, but you are saying i cant do this because i am running F/I. Why is that?
