Default PCM/TCM E38/T42 Part Numbers?

Hey guys I need to source an E38 PCM and T42 TCM for my LS3/4L80e swap. Anyone have part numbers? Do the PCM and TCM need to match VIN or can I mix and match? Ie 2010 Camaro E38 PCM and 2008 TBSS TCM with a segment swap for the 4L80e? Will I need separate HPT credits for both TCM and PCM? Was hoping to grab some off ebay tonight.

Are you sure you want an E38 controller? If so, the service part is 12633238. A new one is shipped as a no-start.

If you are going with a 4L80E anyways, it would be easier to get a PCM that runs the engine AND trans, unless you want to keep VVT and what not. 89017749 is a reman version of a new 12602801 P59 controller, used around 2005-07 in trucks.

Don't know if you already have the engine and trans, but you could see about getting a takeout PCM and harness for your project from a 2500/3500 truck that came with a 4L80E.

What would be the alternative? I just need something to run a 58x motor and yes 4L80e. P59 won't run 58x unfortunately. It's an engine stand 416 build so I didn't start with anything.

While looking around I found this guide, very helpful! It breaks out 24x and 58x crank reluctors, cam gear counts, cam bolt patterns, ECM type (E38, E67, E40, and "Warren"???), all by application. Downloadable pdf too.

I would swap the reluctor ring on the crank or use a converter box before I went to an E38. It's cool from a control system standpoint, but the older PCMS are so much easier to work with.

I'll be sticking with 58x for several reasons including that the motor is already assembled as well as the e38's superior tuning for flex fuel OS's. Not to mention the E38s are much less bulky and easier to mount inside the cab cleanly.

Do those converter boxes work well? Just asking for reference for any future projects. I'm just starting to mess with an E38, and so far I hate it. VVE.

I have run one without issue for about 7 years in my SSS with a LY6. Tunes without issue as far as my tuner is concerned.

Only problem ever was related to user error when my crank sensor wire for the converter box got very toasty after my headers were installed.
