According to this diagram the van PCM is looking for a +12V AC request signal on C2 Pin 17 like the older trucks.
Whereas, your truck HVAC controls communicate with the PCM via serial data. Not certain, but from what I have read, your HVAC controls may also check for an "engine running" message on the serial data line.
