OBD 2 Scaner/Reader
what's a good OBD-2 Hand scanner, 2010 Chevy E67 PCM, for a decent price,
i see a load of diff ones on e-bay, I'am NOT familiar with all of them. good or bad |
What do you want to "scan"?
An Android phone, a ELM327 adapter, and Torque Pro, will "scan" just fine. A bit $$$$$$ though... the ELM327 might cost $20 or so, and Torque Pro is $4.99. Butt if you REALLY want to bite off, time to put on your big boy underpants and STEP UP, and lay out all that long green. Iff on the other hand you're mired in the Apple ecosystem, not sure what I can do to help you, other than to extend a helping hand OUT. |

How about a Tech2 clone? They pretty much do anything. I believe works up to 2013 GM vehicles.
I got a handheld Innova from the local parts store, but wish I'd bought a Tech2 for the price. Otherwise an Autel Maxysys (I think that's what they are called?) It really depends how much functionality you want. Reading codes is not too helpful for diagnosis. Codes just tell you have a problem and which system is affected. Live data is better for figuring things out, as bi-directional controls such as having the ability to kills injectors while running or closing the bent solenoid. |
step up to what ? |
I use Torque Pro and the BAFX adapter for a lot of stuff, but it won't bleed the ABS on my '06. Neither will the $100-ish Launch CRP123 scanner. So forget about that. It won't do anything with the EVAP system on the '06 either. The Launch did help me determine which airbag impact sensor was bad though so it has its pluses..

Yeah I mean it's a GMT800 so I have the eternal CEL thanks to the EVAP system. I do need to figure out what exactly is wrong though and fix it because when the tank is really low, it's a pain to fill it because it keeps clicking off the pump nozzle. Once it gets a little gas in it and I guess the filler neck gets a siphon effect going, it fills normally. Just a pain at first, every damn time.
Richard You can unplug the vent solenoid and jumper the connector from the battery to see if it works. I think it's normally open and applying power it closes? They can get stuck open or closed. |
OBD2 Scanner
well i have a few of those ELM327 things in wired and WI-FI also a Samsung 9+ phone
that's Android powered, so all i need is the Torque Pro program. i guess it's online somewhere. thanks all for the info |
