Noob cluster problems
 

Ok so I know people hate the guy with 3 posts and is just on here asking for help but I haven't ran across other people (yet) that has had this problem, but I will get to the point. I have a 2000 Sierra and I know how the clusters are garbage, since I bought mine I noticed when I hit a good bump or a couple in the road the cluster would just shut off. So lose ground? Maybe bad cluster? So I replaced the cluster and t taped the main ground form the clip side of the gauge harness and grounded it, I'm still having the same problem, the gauges will come back on after the harsh road/ bumps but sometimes they won't for a couple of days or hours. Idk what else to look for, maybe a bad ignition? Haven't really ran thru the harness to find the main power source of the cluster harness, so at this point any help would be much appreciated. Tia

I looked up under the truck all my grounds had good connection but they were all covered in dirt and mud from previous owner, I cleaned them up, not sure if this fixes my problem.

With engine running wiggle every fuse in the interior fuse box.

I hope your referring to the out side of the vehicle and not up under the dash. Mud up under the dash Could wreck havoc on the electrical system.


As mentioned wiggle every connection under the dash and see if you get the loss of communication. It could be power or the communication signal wire.

It could be a loose pin at the Junction or just a brittle wire that is broken internally.
