Looking for some advice/help from seasoned HP Tuners users.
I am hoping to be getting my engine back from the machine shop here in the next week or two. It is a high compression N/A 408. Looking for some help getting an intial tune built to get it going with. In esence looking for someone willing to coach me on this. I do have some time going through the software, playing with the scanner, and logging.

What exactly do you need help with? I would first start by posting what you have in the 408. Injectors, cam, heads, intake, ect. Obviously those determine what needs to be changed in the initial start up tune.
|
There is quite a bit that goes into it, even just a base tune. Are you putting a tune on it just to get it down to a dyno shop?

The 408 is a LQ4 base. Forged 4"stroke crank, forged rods, forged weisco +5 dome pistons. MLS .051 gaskets. Stock 317 heads with mild valve job. Cam is 224/228, .612/.612, 112 LSA, 108 ICL. Edelbrock Pro-Flo w/ 35# pico injectors. TSP longtubes.
I found a stock 6.0 tune w/ a 60e segment swap in the tune repository. I can't dyno tune it because the closest dyno is more than 200 miles away. |
The most important thing is correct injector data.

Edelbrock repackages and resales Magneti Marelli High Z pico injectors. The ones I have are the IWP006 injectors - link!

Thats the first thing that needs to be changed. From there its just the basic stuff. Add fuel to cover a possible lean mixture, add airflow to the raf to get it to idle. I would add a little idle timing in there and cut the idle over/underspeed tables in half. Once it is running you can quickly see what needs tweaks with the scanner. Don't fire it up and take it for a test drive or anything like that.

Thats the stuff I need help with.i just dont know the process well enough to know where to go to change what us needed.

I have some resource info coming in the mail this week (hopefully).
What is the injector data that is needed? |
