iat vs ect sensor

So been tossing around the idea of a new intake on the truck and been wondering about just pulling the maf out and running a iat sensor in the intake tube. Question is i have a couple extra ect sensors laying around and was wondering if i could use one as the intake sensor since they are both temp sensors. I would think the pcm would read resistance off the sensors. Just a thought if not I will find a gm iat at the parts store I guess.

old intake tube 3.125"
new intake tube 4"

Hum. Im not sure if the resistance readings are the same. But its worth a shot. Take a reading with the sensor in the maf, then connect the other sensor and compare the readings?

I might try that just have to log current intake build new and log and make sure its close I guess. only thing that worried me was there are open and close style iat sensors and most of the closed style are just temp sensors but both will read hotter and colder then the intake ever should be.

well the stock sensor in the maf and the ect both ohm the same in open air so I am going to give it a shot

Where are you putting the sensor?

southern_chevy 07-05-2012 05:11 PM

sensor is going between the two coolant lines on the back side of the intake tube between the filter and 90*

hopefully tomorrow or tonight I will get a chance to make sure the sensor works right

all painted and put back in
