If you are using an MPVI 2 or 3 you are stuck using newer software. I think the 3 will only work with 5.x. I know I will never give up my MPVI1 that just works. And firmware can be rolled back.

The Issue is HPT related, and no they don't care.
I have never had an issue flashing the GMT800 trucks and suv's through the OBD port with EFI Live.

I only know of 1 truck in my area that has an issue going through the OBD port, but I haven't been able to inspect the wiring.

I do regret trading in my V1, the whole Bluetooth thing got me hyped and now I’m not sure if I ever actually used it.

Man I really thought EFI Live died years ago, didn’t realize it was so relevant still. Is the EFI live software much different than HPT? I’m not very good with HPT but I’m sure I’d be even worse at something new. Not to mention are there as many videos and what not for EFI?

Have you inspected your OBD2 port to make sure the pins aren't messed up?

I never cared for the EFILive scanner, And their licensing always seemed strange. I thought they put most of their emphasis in supporting the Diesel market and didn't really keep up with supporting the newer gas vehicles too. It's probably a lot of just what you get used to using.

Yeah it looks great and I never have any issues scanning. I can scan and log over washboard roads and not have an issue.

I kinda thought they leaned more on the diesel side too, but guys like Blackbear have been doing I’m guessing tens of thousands of LS trucks.

EFI was at the for front for a long time. But HPT started copying there work as well as others. Once they cracked the L5P, it was sort of game over for them. All the diesel guys started to swap over. Then the CARB and the EPA went after everyone and alot of shops started closing up.

Any way there flash process is more stable IMO. They also allow you to change the Vin with out re licensing the tune. Unlike HPT because of there license structure.

I dont think the V8 software was that popular with some of the old school guys either. I still fumble with it my self but I am no expert...

The easiest thing to do is make a new harness with a single PCM pin going to the PCM and a OBD splitter.

You run this new wire to the PCM from the OBD splitter. plug the splitter into the factory OBD port and connect to the other end of it.
Now you have a straight thru Serial connection to the PCM thats uninterrupted.

HPT has had a bunch of issues.
Ive been using EFI since 2003, and yea they dont support any 2019+ Gas because of the Global ECMs. And EFI licenses is very simple. Buy one license and do anything to that PCM/ECM. HPT makes you license a file where EFI only makes you license the PCM.
The Lua Script that EFI V8 uses is very nice once you figure it out.

Majority of the turbo trucks and LS swaps now get a Holley ECU to make it as simple as possible.

I like that idea of the new harness with single wire to pcm. Didn’t realize that was a thing.

when your doing Holleys what system do you use and do they retain all factory body control functions, gauges, AC yada yada?
