Default Gen IV engine swap help

I am swapping a LY6 into my truck and dont worry, im not going to ask a lot of questions about previously covered crap. But I do need some advice on harness and computer selection. I have a 00 sierra 5spd with 6 cylinder currently and the way I see it I can either get a gen III v8 ecu and harness and convert to 24x and figure out what to do with knock sensors or go standalone gen IV. But what im really curious about is putting a gen IV harness and computer in my truck I cant find anyone with that setup. Since I have a 6 cylinder ecu and harness I have to change it anyway, so can I get some input? I am also going to be changing my nv3500 to tr6060 and I really dont see any info on that either. Maybe im just not looking hard enough?

If you want to run E85 you should use an ECU already capable of running E85. Otherwise 2000-2002 ECU. I screwed the knock sensors right in to the side of my LS3 block with no tapping required. There are extra bosses for engine mounts aft of the engine mounts you will use. The Gen 3 knock sensors screw right into those bosses. Caspers makes a relocation harness for the front cam sensor and knock sensor move. I did my own wiring though.

Thanks for the reply. Im sure that is the way i will end up going so that this doesnt turn into a drawn out project, but I just feel like if I have to buy a 00-02 V-8 harness and computer for around $200 and a 24x to 58x converter for $275, I might as well just get the gen IV harness and computer but does anyone know what kind of mess I would be getting into with trying to integrate that harness and ecu to my truck? Im not a newbie when it comes to wiring and Im sure that if I sat down with some schematics for a few hours I could have a plan, just wondering who has been there and done that?

Just make it a standalone harness and you shouldn't have any issue. All the body functions will stay as is. Might have some differences with ac stuff tho.

I don't think you can use a Gen4 harness in a Gen3 truck. The Gen4 (E38/E67) ECM won't talk to the BCM which runs many functions (serial vs can-bus comms).

To make it as factory as possible, running the knock sensors on the side of the block, relocate cam sensor, is the best bet.

Thanks for the input guys! Guess I will be looking for a 00-02 V8 harness and getting the lingenfelter converter then.
