E-fan/ Nelson e-fan harness??
I just installed them yesterday and they both fans were on low, when the ac switched on and a min or two later you can hear them kick on high when compressor kicks on. But my issue is all my lights dim down low for a quick second any time they come on. Turn the ac off its then turn it back on with the regular settings= dim, when switched to high= dim, when the truck gets warm and they turn on= dim of the lights on cluster. Is this a common problem with the e-fans? I also have the 145 amp alt, will be doing the big 3 upgrade soon. I did get the alt to the junction box wire upgraded with 4 guage wire, this is some extra audio cable I had laying around. Thanks for your help, and sorry for the long post.

Yes, it's normal. Think about it - not only is the compressor being kick on, but both of your fans are also receiving full voltage. That's a pretty big amperage kick. Same deal using big amps without a capacitor.
This is why a delay is built in to the factory settings for efans, so that this scenario doesn't happen. My Camaro's lights would dim when the AIR pump would run - no big deal. |
So is there a way to put a delay in it like the factory does with hp tuners?

Ya you can, I don't remember off of the top of my head though. You can also add airflow to the running airflow table when the fan turns on. There is a specific table for it.

Ok cool I'll check it out.

Sort don't have access to my computer or I would try to help you out more.

Mine does it too, its normal. The spike to turn things on is much higher than running them constant, thats why it dims for a short moment.

I have my Target Idle RPM set 100 rpm higher whenever the AC compressor kicks on. It made the dimming lights, when fans kick on, barely noticeable.

Ima let my tuner know.

Yea the delay settings are with all the other fan settings. There is a delay on and a delay off. I set mine for .3 and .2 seconds.
