driving without tune after cam swap???

i got a 4.8 silverado 2002. i put pretty much everything in my sig in this winter. the cam is a 216/220 .525/.532 116 lsa. stall is 2600. shift kit, servos, 3.73's (from 3.42's) and locker, ect. i know i need a tune badly to make this all worth it and will be sending out for a mail order probably next week. the pcm will turn on the fans after the tune and i can turn them on low with the a/c right now. it idles and runs decent but sometimes wants to die after rev up a bit. engine light comes on and flashes occasionally for p0300 code. im sure thats cause it is not tuned yet? my main question is do you guys think this would be ok to drive about 35 miles round trip? i would love to get it to the exhaust and get a little welding done tomorrow. any thoughts? thanks.

it shouldnt hurt.. but then again whats better, waiting a week or messing up your engine and having to start all over..
