DBW DBC 4.8 to 6.0

Brothers.
A basic 4.8 to 6.0.
truck is 2000 4.8 drive by cable
intended motor 6.0 LQ9 DBW.
Do i reuse the intake and throttle from the dbc setup? or is there more to it?
i want to retain the cable.

thanks

Yes, it's that easy. You don't even have to swap intakes, just throttle bodies.

You still must tune for the engine size change though.

4.8 to 6.0

how much does it roughly cost to change a 4.8 from a 2004 silverado 1500 single cab to a 6.0? and what has to be purchased along as well?

FFDP 01-30-2017 05:28 PM

The motor and tuning, that's pretty much it.

Some gaskets here and there though. Take the long block, plop the intake/injectors/fuel rail/throttle body and that junk from the 4.8 on the 6.0 and that's basically it. Have someone change the tune to support the 6.0 and it "could" run like factory if everything was stock.

The motor and labor cost is up to you to find out.

thanks for the helpful info. so i dont need the harness from the LQ9 even though it uses a different ecm?.
reuse all the harness and crap from the intake upwards from my 4.8?
so does that mean i can get away with a long block only?
my 4.8 is 2000
the lq9 is 2005

I explained it twice, yes that is all you need.

Everything is done tuning wise. You can make that 4.8 computer run a 6.6 stroker if you wanted it too.

Install the long block with the rest being 4.8 parts because the 4.8, 5.3 and 6.0 all ran the same intake/throttle body/fuel rail stuff for 99-02. Just note that like I said if everything is stock, the swap will be simple. If you plan any mods, the injectors will be too small and more stuff will have to be tuned.

thanks for clarifying that. Another question:
Will I need a newer style flywheel and clutch kit?.
The 2000 uses long snout crank and 01+ short.

brandon6.0 02-02-2017 08:53 PM

measure it and see if your 4.8 was long or short. but u are correct the 4.8/6.0 2000 model did come with a longer crank to match up to the 80e. What trans are u running. If its a 60e thin just use your flexplate from the 4.8 and it will work with the 6.0. Only need a 80e flexplate and spacer if using a 80e.

sowaidi 02-03-2017 08:52 AM

i should have listed that.
my trans is nv3500 5 speed light duty.
Checking partd compatibility through Rockauto. 2001-2007 uses a different flywheel and clutch kit for both nv4500 and nv3500 from the 2000's.
Im assuming Ill have to purchase a flywheel and a clutxh kit.
