Custom tune for 05'
#1
Hey yall, I have a 05 Chevy Silverado Z71 4 door with a 5.3L V8. It has a true flow intake, poweraid throttle body spacer, descreened MAF, dual 3 inch flowmasters w/ a 3 inch DMH cutout and currently a hypertech tune.
-I want a custom tune, either nelson or waitforme and i need some help.
1. With a stock transmission how much torque management should i take off?
2. What octane should i use for best gain, and what gains have you all recieved?
3. Are they worth the money? Is it a huge difference?
4. When they take off the torque management, does it make you truck take off quicker and get to a high speed faster? (say to 110mph).
I appreciate the help in advance. -Allan

1. I have had 100% TM removed for 5 years.
2. Leaned PE multiplier, raised sihftpoints, raised speedlimiter(255mph), diagnostics stuff corrected, rear O2 sensor reporting removed, Larger gains will be found when tuning is done for higher octane fuel, you can run leaner a/f's and more spark timing with more octane. You can also get dual octane tunes, which use teh knock sensor and fuel level sensor to determine if the PCM can use its High or Low Octane logic after the fuel level has been manipulated. if you add 87 octane, the knock sensor will freak out, then teh PCM will back the timing out. If you fill up with 94 octane fuel, the agressive timing will not caus ethe knock sensor to freak out and the advanced timing will remain. A 94-87 dual octane tune will NOT give you the power gains that a straight 94 octane HOT tune will give you. you can also get tuning for fuel economy, but again you wont get maximum performance with a economy tune.
3. They are absolutley worth the money
4. Removing TM will help you have more power: from a dead stop, during downshifts during passing manoeuvers, whenever you use heavy throttle.
torque management, manages torque, whenever you use heavy throttle, teh PCM takes spark timing away, sometimes large amoubt of spark timing. I noticed a large difference when it was removed in my 1997 Vortec 350.
