Connecting to PCM
This is about my truck.
I'm having trouble getting connected to the PCM. This goes for both EFILive and LS1 Programmer. The last time I did anything was some logs back in April 2006. Upon further research, it looks as if I reloaded windows on the laptop in Oct. 2006, so I'm thinking there is something I haven't done :bang: When trying to run LS1 Prog (in order to read a PCM), I receive a comm error stating it is trying to reconnect to the PCM - this happens over and over. With EFILive, I get an error stating it can't even find the interface cable. I checked the preferences in both apps and they are setup for COM1 and COM1 is operating properly - so Device Manager reports. Any ideas? |
Check the fuse for your Cig lighter, its the same fuse for the ODBII port. If this fuse is blown then you will not be able to connect. Mine did this before. Just a thought.

The fuse is good. Cig lighter works as well as all other AC adapter outlets.
My Actron scanner works as well - I can read live data. I think it has to do with my laptop. I know the COM port is good because I use LT1 programmer on my Camaro. |
Make sure to have the latest efilive driver on the computer, as well as the firmware. That was something i screwed up when i first did this. You have to use the usb cable as well.

So, just to finish this thread, I did find the issue, forgot to post about it, though. Two pins were not making contact in the DLC:
