4l80e
whats is the big difference in the internal wiring on a 91 to 03 and a 04 and up 4l80e?
the harness is different. which leads me to think that when i swapped this 05 80e in something is causing the trans gauge to not read correctly. truck runs fine and has no issues. it just shows the gauges already hot before i even turn key forward. and when it gets in the middle of the gauge it says its hot when clearly its not. i can grab the cooler lines and if i put spit on the converter it just drips off. i know its a wiring issue, but i cant find it. the extra sensor i added worked fine and the only wire you change on the main plug is for TCC and that locks up. my next thing is to replace the internal harness and hope that the built in temp sensor was just bad. but once i saw difference in internal harness between the years i was scared maybe i have another wire to change on the main plug to make it read right. any help is greatly needed lol. |
and when i say hot, i mean aafter driving it for 30 mins the gauge will sit right in the middle and the intrument cluster reads transmission hot and it starts going into limp shifting and stuff.

Anybody? No one has any tips? Or ever had this problem? I googled and googled. I'm just gonna buy a Ac delco internal harness and go from there. Gotta fix before it sells

I'm taking full credit for having the first question go unanswered on here.

I have a 95 era 4l80e in my 01 scsb. I just don't have a driveshaft yet so I can't be of any help. Does the temp value stay at the same level all the time? Or does it variate in the temperature reading? say 180 start then up to 240 degrees?
|
ya it works but it starts off high and by time it goes to normal operating temp it thinks its over heating.
also sometimes gauge will be in the middle at like a normal in traffic towing temp and it will click on and say trans is hot. so i dont know. |
I'd bet corroded connection causing excessive resistance to the sensor input
|
hmm i can check deep in the connector. since trans set for a bit before going in. but idk. good thinking keep the ideas coming

Finally got my driveshaft and time to work on mine. I put 150 miles on my 4l80e in 92 degree weather and it never got over 150 degrees.:usa:
So I guess any progress on your end? |
