Question 3 bar MAP sensor seems to show "BOOST" at IDLE?

Watching vehicle run with HPTuners Scanner on, and noticed that the MAP was showing a reading near 7-8 and VACUUM showing about the same...

My ACTUAL vacuum at IDLE is 15", so it looks like the MAP and VACUUM are "splitting" the number, if that makes sense?

Is that right? Never really noticed it before...

I know if I played with MAP sensor settings, the ones shown in pic, I could "MAKE" the MAP reading on the scanner go up, even higher, as if it's not calibrated correctly...

It's, as bought, as tuned before I got it, MAP settings are what the pic shows...I haven't reset them, aside from playing with them yesterday, then returning them to their previous settings...

Your screen shot shows IMAP at 49kpa, which is completely normal.

I know that one.

I'm asking about the two that are circled...MAP @ 7.2 PSI and VACUUM @ 8 PSI, which coincidentally (although showing POSITIVE pressure) equal the TRUE engine vacuum I see, which is 15"

I don't get why they seem to split, the 15" reading I get on an external gauge?

I don't think it's a big deal, but does seem odd to me.

When all is said and done, I'm trying to figure out if my 3 bar MAP sensor parameters are re-calibrated correctly. Can't seem to locate any info as yet. I just happened to notice the split thing while looking for other issues.

One is the absolute value between absolute zero pressure and manifold pressure. One is the absolute value between barometric pressure and manifold pressure. Adding up to 15 is just a coincidence. Set the MAP calibration values back the way they should be and leave them. They don't change.

Gotcha. Thanks for the replies..

The car (2000 T/A) has a 2002 6.0/4L80E Silverado ECU w/3 BAR Speed Density RTT O/S in it, along with a 3 bar MAP sensor. The settings shown above, are set exactly how I got the car from the PO. Since half the general/basic settings are all jacked up, I'd be hard pressed to believe that they somehow got the MAP sensor recal correct...(Stock, the MAP sensor settings are roughly 1/3rd of what mine are now) So, maybe they are "right", but I'm still trying to find a tune, or info, somewhere to confirm. I'm not nilly-***** changing stuff.

Get the part number on the sensor and match it with the proper values.

I don't exactly ignore those readings but I choose to read everything is MAP kpa to keep things simple in my head. Also I dislike the map sensor it has, kinda looks like a duramax sensor with those linear and offset settings.

Figure in most cases if the settings are correct the MAP will read around 100-103kpa with the KOEO like a factory map sensor would and it would idle at nearly the same kpa while running.
