If it smooths out with higher octane then I would assume it likely needs a little timing pulled.

If it doesn't, There is an indication something isn't correct and that it needs some more work.

To go a different route, what spark plugs are you using? If they are stock you need to go about 2 steps colder.

Is this an actual TVS1900 or an LSA supercharger?

Good call.

When I had my Whipple regapping the plugs to .025 was a noticeable difference.

You could have some spark blowout.

Everything is stock except for the catch can and brand new Magnuson TVS1900 (full kit for a stock 2017 6.2L 8-speed).
Thanks for the spark plug suggestion.

Actual TVS1900 straight from Magnuson.

What would happen if I ran 3-5 gallons of E85 and then the rest (17-15 gallons) of 91 octane?
Would this damage the truck or supercharger at all, given the truck is not E85 compatible?

Race gas does not contain ethanol. By adding a higher octane. Say a few gallons It would increase the octane rating. The truck should smooth out.

Water/methanol is used to cool the intake charge under power. It helps keep the cylinder temps down while maximising power.
Please excuse me for asking the same question twice, but would a water/meth kit allow me to eliminate this ping and perhaps even add timing back in? The way I read your reply was that I could not mix in E85, but there wasn't an answer to using a water/meth kit except that it has cooling properties.

Yes, water/meth would definitely help keep detonation at bay and cool the intake air.

Had a similiar issue and my converter was going out and causing excessive load at part and mid throttle ; almost like if you tried to floor it in 6th gear and never downshifted. The tranny was trying to compensate and thus ping ping ping a low-med load while cruising.

You need to pull back timing until you figure this out if you are going to drive it btw.

changing plugs would be a good start too, gap them a bit smaller. .035 i think.

If I were to switch to new spark plugs, which ones should I get? Brisk said to get their RR14YS (two steps colder, .028 gap, projected tip). Also looks like the NGK BR6EF-3177 might be good (one step colder, .028 gap, non projected tip). Or the NGK BR7EF-3346 (two steps colder, .028 gap, non projected tip). I was thinking of switching and not just closing the gap on my stock plugs because of being told to go colder on the heat range. And do I do a projected tip or non projected tip?

I'm running a Maggie TVS1900 with stock pulley and boost (only about 6-8 PSI I assume) on a 6.2L Everything else is stock. I seem to be pinging just a little bit still while getting into heavy load (and then it goes away quickly) even after pulling quite a bit of timing. This is on crap California 91 octane.
