Default 2017 Sierra 6.2L Maggie TVS1900 Tune

The Black Bear tune is pinging whenever I do a moderate to heavy throttle tip in at any speed. Basically, if I get into a little boost and engage the supercharger, it pings momentarily. The tuner said "the level of ignition advance you are sitting at when the pinging is occurring is already 3 - 4 degrees below what should be optimal for your setup."

I am running 91 octane gas, which is the best we have in California. And my truck does not take E85.
The only other mod is an E2-X catch can.

Any advice?

Was it tuned in person or mail order?

Where are you getting the 91 octane from?

It could be a rich ping. Yes, to rich and it’ll ping to.

Not that I want to start a flame war but you should get a real tune.

California's gas has a lot of ethanol in it. Especial if you go to low end Gas stations such as Walmart, Arco, and other No Name gas stations.

It used to say may contain up to 10% Ethanol. But I have been seeing 15-20% lately and they have since removed the sticker's at the pumps.

It probably is a "too rich" ping.
I'm not offended by the "should get a real tune." Any recommendations for the Los Angeles area?

I'm near the 101 and 405 freeways. Van Nuys. I can go to a gas station that has race fuel or I can go to a place that has VP fuels. I cannot put in E85, correct? Because it's not a flex fuel truck. What would adding a water methanol kit do? Would that solve the issue?

No and if there is too much Ethanol in the gas it lights off too quick.

Race gas does not contain ethanol. By adding a higher octane. Say a few gallons It would increase the octane rating. The truck should smooth out.

Water/methanol is used to cool the intake charge under power. It helps keep the cylinder temps down while maximising power.

What should be done to the tuning since running race fuel is going to be way too expensive over the long run?
