Looks like Summit Racing shows some of those pistons: https://www.summitracing.com/search/...H84AlQovpl_BI-

The 4.8 and 5.3 are the same bore, so basically any "5.3" piston will work in your 4.8, as long as the piston geometry (domed, dished, valve reliefs, etc) yields the correct C.R. and valve-to-piston clearance is satisfied.

But I couldnt find forged pistons that would fit the 4.8L, every forged piston I found stated it was for a 3.622 stroke. So would that mean the wrist pin height would of been different?

I asked the sales rep at Brian Tooley racing and summit, they both told me that they dont have a forged set for the 4.8L. Again i am new to this so i could have missed something.
I would have the rod checked for straightenes.

Any way, sadly neither sales person was educated enough... GM made the L33 5.3L in 2005. It uses a flat top piston. Guess we're that piston came from... the later gen4 5.3L also used those piston.

As mentioned icon does have a piston that will work In a .020 bored nd other sizes.

Thank you! I will have to look into those pistons when I do a fully forged bottom end on the block I have sitting in my garage right now.

This was supposed to be a budget build which didnt turn out to be much of a budget.

You would be better off just using a 5.3 crank and rods.
And i was looking at those pistons. They dont look like a quality piece.

I use DSS pistons in majority of my engines if they need pistons. But have never "built" a 4.8 with after market goodies.
They were all just needed a refresh so rings/bearings and such.

Just an FYI, When you do a forged bottom end, the forged rods typically use a smaller .927 wrist pin. Then you will have to step up to the premium line of pistons.

The plan is to recoup from this engine and transmission build and purchase an entire forged rotating assembly that is balanced. I probably will switch to a 5.3L rotating assembly.
