Default 01 2500 HD tune

Fixing to get a tune on my new truck(new to me), what can i expect power wise and what gains for fuel economy? 1-2 miles i assume, but how much power, i have driven a truck like mine but long bed witha tune, and it seemed faster and of course the up shifts were just magic, nice and firm. 15-25 RWHP maybe? I only have a catback right now, but i will be looking for a CAI as well.

Dont waste your time on a CAI, get a K&N drop in and cut the front out of the sotck box. Id expect 20-25rw as the stock HD tunes are VERY conservative. It also depends on if youre going to tow very much too though, that will knock your gains down some as the timing will have to be kept a few degrees lower to account for that. Shifts can be tailored to your taste with a simple adjustment of the trans pressure.

Who are you getting to tune it?

Hell, not sure who will be doing the tune yet, whoever is cheapest that i know does a good job through my buddies. I will tow with it, just not very often. Seldom, when i need to move a car, if i want to tow my 89 to the track, ect. Otherwise, daily driver duty.

I cut a opening in the air box towards the front of the truck, so it should help, also dropped in the K&N.

Guy name Chuck. I hear good and bad about him, but the old bad was evidently when he didnt use a wide band, did my buddies 2001 Z28 with a 408, made 460 RWHP on some 317s i ported and stock LS6 intake, TB, and injectors, so it has a ways to go.

I am just pleased it put so much down on a 177k mile motor with all that heavy **** it is tuning.

start looking for a TB SS or GMT900 intake and fuel rails, Dr. X adapter. . . . I ran that setup on mine for a while before switching to the L92 heads/intake.

Don't bother getting the older style 87mm TB, get the newer LS3/LS9 TB for under $200. It'll open to 100% vs 80 something . . .

There's several threads already on it with parts and gains from it.

Oh ****, i completely forgot about the TBSS intake setups, i hear they do wonders actually, i was thinking leave it alone for now, but hell, that intake and a set of headers would REALLY make this thing put some power down, not to mention a LS6 cam.

What is the Dr X adapter?

Why the LS3/9 TB? The TBSS piece isnt good enough?
