02 PCM Changeover
Hey, I have heard the 99-00 pcms are kinda wonky from factory, and can have some issues. So in the endless search of trying to find Something to do to my truck, I thought maybe id switch pcms's just so i dont have any issues.
MY trucks runs fine and is already dyno tuned, but heard that sometimes these pcms like to pull timing cause falso knock? true? What all is needed? just get a 001-02 PCM from a 5.3 truck and have my tuner flash that one?? thanks guys |
It's not the PCM that's the problem, it's the operating system. Your tuner should be able to install a 2002 operating system on your current PCM.

O right on then, no sense in changing then

I was wondering about this too. I had horrible problems with false knock after I installed a set of headers, then after the cam swap/before tuning was done there were issues with false knock. Now my truck feels like it is falling on it's face when I go up hills and such. I'm going to have to call my tuner this next week and talk to him to see what he has to say.

i've always been under the impression that you needed a #12200411 (01-02 pcm) to use the 02' operating system. never actually tried to flash an 02' system into a 99-00 pcm though, can anybody confirm this?
