where can i get flexplate locking tool??
 

i know you can just use a screw driver but ive broken 2 already while changing a pulley. i just want to have the right tool. can anybody point me in the right direction? thanks fellas

are you tryin to take the crank bolt out? if so get an old belt and try this Attachment 147088

i would like to see if i could find the tool though so i wouldnt have to worry about rigging anything up. i just need it for removing the bolt and putting on a new one. i just did a ASP pulley swap the other day. i dont need the tool right now this second but i would like to have it for the future. plus with that old belt trick, i dont think it will work with the water pump in the way

you can put the belt on the water pump pulley or the tensioner pulley or the power steering pump pulley

all that matters is the belt stops the pulley from turning. I have a Flywheel wrench used to turn it but I don't think it would work on my truck because there is no dust cover. Just a small hole.
Works fine if you have a dust cover you can take off and expose the entire bottom of the flexplate

I dont know of anywhere you can buy it by itself, I bought the whole Kent Moore Gen III tool kit, it was very expensive but Ive got every tool now to build a motor te "correct" way. If you need it let me know ahead of time and Ill mail it to you.

So all the motors Ive built are the incorrect way?

Thats why I put the word in parenthesis, Ive built motors without all the tools also. Without the all the alignment tools technically no you arent building them right. Having the front and rear cover alignment tools is the only way to make sure there isnt excessive wear on the seals. Now whether or not I think the oil pan alignment tool makes a difference or not I dont know, but I also wanted it for the flywheel locking tool.

I wish I had that flywheel locking tool. Someone with a welder needs to start making some and selling em.
