What do you mow with?
Trying to make a decision on a new mower. Just a bit of history, I've got 3 fenced acres, 1+/- acre around the house, the rest horse pasture. Then maybe another 1/4 to 1/2 acre of roadside frontage/ditch on 2 two sides of my property. I have a drainage ditch that runs thru the length of my property. I also have a 40'x40' barn/stables, which I bring sand into at least 2 loads a season, sometimes twice a season.
I've been mowing with just a plain old troy bilt mower for the past 5 or 6 years. Was left by the people who owned the property before me and was brand new. With the ditches and pasture, my property is hard on the mower, the 5 year old mower looks and runs like its about 30 years old. I've spent the last 2 or 3 summers running it and working on it just about every time I mow. I've decided this is the season I buy something new, cause I'm about ready to shoot this thing full of buckshot.
I've been trying to decide between a commercial grade Zero Turn mower and a Sub-Compact Tractor with a front loader, belly mower and most likely a 48" brush hog. Been looking at the Bad Boy mowers for the zero turns though I'm open to suggestions, and the Kubota BX series sub-compacts. The tractors are really more than I want to spend, but it would be damn nice to have a front loader. I'm just having a hard time justifying likely twice the cost of a dang nice 30 horse, 60" zero turn mower.
Wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions, mainly about the zero turn mowers and how they like them. I've never driven one and it would be a completely new experience for me, sure it would take some getting used to.
