Default What do you do to keep track of vehicle records?

I try to do all my own work, but I'm on the lower level, usually watch several youtube versions of any repair, and take about 1 1/2-2 times as long as what most jobs are supposed to take.

I started keeping track of my vehicles records a couple years ago for the first time. I used to try to remember everything, and took me a while to realize that was silly. Now, I keep all receipts in a single folder. I write down the mileage and date on the back of the receipt, and have been keeping a notepad page on my computer. On the computer I include part #, cost, any changes ive noticed or notes about installation. I also have separate email folders I keep all emails I get for buying parts, and have a folder I keep copies of all receipts.

Here is some:

I usually take a snapshot of what I do to the truck. I do all my work (I'm poor) except for stuff like tires, batteries and alignment etc. I keep those receipts inside the owners manual pocket for warranty issues. The photos (hundreds in sixteen years owning the truck) help me document and remember the steps that went into the mods... as I'm really really old.

Pictures along the way seems pretty easy to do. Then transfer them into there own separate folder. I like that, certainly more than any shop would do for you, and would only take a few seconds per shot. I guess I assumed people would just be doing that to help with how-tos and such, but nice for that added proof. I take pictures some times when I do something and want to see what it looked like before I started "fixing it". I will be adding this. Thank you.
