Wally Cleaver (Tony Dow) RIP
Sad to hear of Tony Dow's passing today he was 77
Being a car guy one of my favorite Leave It to Beaver episodes was when Wally bought his first car for $25 when he was 15.
Wally, Eddie, Lump and the guys tried to fix the old 1936 Ford Coupe but of course they wound up with parts scattered everywhere
. Ward told Wally the jalopy had to go! Unbeknownst to Ward, Wally had sold parts off the car to his friends after Ward had arranged a junkyard to buy the Ford for $15.
When the junkman saw the stripped down car he was upset at Ward for wasting his time! Ward calls Wally down for an explanation! "Gee, dad, I'm sorry I put you on a spot" then Wally asked the junkman "how much to haul it off?" They settled on a $10 price. After all was said and done Wally made a profit of $2.50 cents "pretty neat huh dad" then a surprised Ward replies "Yeah. Yeah, it's pretty neat!"
