yes that what we used on my tail lights works very well
we put acetone on a rag an wiped the lights down making sure they were clean of an debris and dust then sprayed a light coat over them making sure to do it evenly we didnt use any clear coat over top of the VHT on the tail lights as the finish was already perfectly smooth this is the final result do the 3rd brake first as a trial light and see if you like your own results |
did you spray the outside or inside of the light?

outside

Here is a very basic write up. Ive done countless sets of these with VHT NiteShades and theyve all turned out just as good as any paint shop around here.
Clean tail light with wax/grease remover. Wetsand with 800 grit and let dry after you rinse it well Spray light coats of NiteShades until you get to the desired darkness and let dry Wetsand with 1000 grit to remove orange peel Spray a few heavy coats of clear (I used Duplicolor Acrylic Lacquer clear) allowing each to dry for about 10 mins between coats Wetsand with 2000 grit to remove any orange peel and allow to dry Buff with 3M rubbing compound 3x Buff with Meguiars PlastiX 3x Buff with wax of your choice 3x (I used Meguiars Carnauba Wax) After that your lights will shine like no other and provided you didnt get to happy with the NiteShades the lights should shine through really well. This is not the only way to do this, its just how Ive done it and Ive seen great results this way. So if you dont like my way, thats fine, just dont tell me Im wrong because its sure as fv#k worked plenty of times for me. OP, hope this helps you out. PM me with any questions, |
thanks guys,, this'll help a lot lol i really wasnt wanting to go pay someone a few hundred if this would work just as good....
|
a few hundred? yeah man, buy you some nightshades, and take your time, it will look great, :)
|
local guy does all three for 75. hes done at least 15 plus cars i know of with perfect results. uses a mix of black and clear i believe
|
Most body shops here charge $200-300 for both tails and the 3rd. Ridiculous in my opinion.
|
haha yeah thats about what is was gonna cost me to get all mine done....
