Default Tire Kickers SUCK

So I have my truck up for sale locally. Keep in mind the local population loves their Nissan and Toyota trucks. I get that. But this guy (one of many) calls me up, wants to take a look on Friday. Cool no problem, it is a potential sale. Truck is clean in and out, runs great. I get there, he gets all giggly about how it sounds and loves it. He wants to take it for a ride. We go, he gets on it and runs the dog snot out of it up to 120mph. He tells me a story about how he went to go look at this Tacoma earlier and then seen my truck. Blah blah blah. At the end of the test drive he says...I will call you after I talk to my wife and the bank. Ok, I know what that means.
Then tonight I get a call and it is the dude. He says that the Taco owner dropped the price from $14,000 to $10,000. I know damn well he was wanting me to drop my price. I was polite and told him to go ahead and buy the Taco. I was not dropping my price ($14,000)

My truck blue books (private party) at $14,100. With over $4,000 in it, I want at least book value.

So like the title states: Tire kickers Suck.

You will probably have a hard time selling it, if you are trying to get above "loan value" out of it. What it bluebooks for and what banks will loan out on it are two different things. Its hard enough selling one right now that people can get a loan for, much less something they have to come out of pocket for. Good luck.

As far as I know the bank uses the blue book value as a reference. My bank said the loan value was around $16,000. I checked just to make sure I was not off kilter. I know some banks will only lend up to 80% of KBB value.

I may charge them a test drive fee. That might weed out the dumb **** drivers.

Half the price in hand is a good start!

Be careful, when I was selling my modded mustang, I let the guy drive. Now, this car was a beast and had a race clutch in it, and the guy couldnt drive for ****. Revving the **** out of it, I had to tell him to shift the bitch. Ended up killing the trans in it. After that was fixed, all test drives were provided by me. I have no problem hammering it, getting sideways for you, putting the speedo on 150. When you show me the cash and its yours, do as you please. I had several guys show up with half the money or "most" of the money, I showed I was serious and walked away. One guy calls and tells me of this awesome deal he found on another car and mine was priced to high and could I lower it to match the other car, I informed him he should go buy the other car. Eventually after about a month, a guy shows up who was serious, brought a trailer and the proper amount of cash, we sealed the deal. Good luck with yours.
