Default Stubby Antenna?

I picked up my '10 Silverado the other day, and found out that it wont fit in the garage with the factory antenna...has anybody switched to a shorter one?

I'd like to get just a plan black one, but wanted to make sure the radio still worked okay.

Any suggestions?

I've done that on a few of my vehicles. I don't remember where I got it but it came with multiple screw on adapters to fit different vehicles. I never had any radio problems. Do a search and I'm sure you'll come up with something.

I've had a stubby antenna for years and my radio works great...it's an 18" IIRC. It's black powdercoated...

On my 09 GMC I just hid the whole antenna under the cowl. All you do is unbolt the 3 bolts that hold the mount to the body and slide it all under the cowl its a little tricky cuz the antenna wire is so short but managable and works great. But to keep a good signal make sure to ground the mount to one of the bolts were the mount was originaly and you wont have any signal problems.

My buddy used pliers and pulled the ball off the end, cut the antenna to length and hammered the ball back on. Looks great and functions the same.
