My brother in-law has one. They're reliable and rugged but don't expect great accuracy from them. I've seen them shoot anywhere from terrible to ok. However the p97 is also a .45 and delivers better accuracy for almost the same price.

Just my personal suggestion, i have fired the P90, and P89 there is nothing wrong with either gun just not a gun i would own or carry. I did not like the feel of the ruger. More of a Springfield XD / XDM, Glock, HK, and SIG fan. also both Rugers i fired around 200 rounds each thru with no problems. Have you fired one? if not go rent one befor buying, maybe you will enjoy it more than i.

I have fired my roommates 9mm ruger and it felt good, I just want to carry something more substantial in the .45 range.

My dads got a Ruger P89-9MM, and I love that gun. He's had it forever, and my dads the type of guy that will shoot the guns and never clean it, I know that gun has been cleaned at least once and that was by me, but thats probably the only time, and he's probably had it 15-20 years. Its never jammed, misfired, or had any issues ever. And we've logged a lot of brass through it.

And its probably one of the more accurate 9MM I've shot. I'm not sure I would want to carry it concealed though, its a pretty large framed pistol. But I would own one in a heartbeat.

all depends on the money.

my dad has the hk usp 9 compact and 45 expert...amazing guns. also has the xd in 45 and a cz97.

go to a range that has rental guns and shoot as many as you can. then decide.

If money was no issue I'd go HK USP 45 Sub-compact all day. I haven't priced the P90's, but I know you can get P89's dirt cheap, I would imagine it to be the same for the P90.

You can also always look at the FN Herstal FNP45. I've got a FNP40 and love it. Good mid range priced guns.

I just bought this last week. I would consider one if I were you. It'll be the last handgun you'll ever want to shoot.

The Ruger P-series are a little ugly, but they're reliable, tough, and cheap pistols.

If you're stuck on a Ruger .45 check out the P345, I prefer it to the P90.

I really dont have any brand preference, except I think glocks are ugly, and I want something bigger than 9mm, like a .40 or .45
