Rant! Hit n run in a parking lot!

Okay so me and the ol'lady go do some more x-mas shopping at a local mall so we park walk in the mall do what we went to do and leave when im walking up to the car I notice the bumper had been hit so I walk up quicker to take a better look and some had backed into the front of my car tearing the front bumper to shit hitting one headlight and shoving it further inside the housing thus bending the fender causing the paint to crack!!! So basiclly it come down to the front bumper cover, headlight, and fender. Now my big dilemma is if I should claim it to my insurance or should i just repair it myself?? The reason why im insure is because not sure if my rate will go up for something like this?? Will filing a claim result in a rate hike?

I will have pics up later tonight of the carnage!

first off that really SUCKS!!! did the mall you went to have parking lot surveilence? i would check that out first, if so most likely they can get that jerkoffs liscense plate. 2nd im pretty sure your premium will go up.

Well the area i parked in had no surveillance. So no luck there...

i don't believe your rate should hike up if it wasn't your fault. i know mine didn't when i incurred a hit and run. and it cost about 3 grand for my insurance to fix....if its gonna cost you more then your deductible id look into it.

I spoke to my agent and she says claim it theres no reason why my rates should go up.

i would claim it, if your vehicle is hit in a parking lot or broken into somewhere your rate shouldnt go up since it wasnt your fault

Agreed with above statements, this will come out of the comprehensive coverage part of your policy. You had no way of keeping this from happening, this is the kind of incident that is normally the easiest to deal with, from my experience anyway. You will just be asked to pay your comprehensive deductible and be done with it. Good luck.
