Ok i got 2 friends in Automotive school. One has the Honda Civic that raced the Ford Ranger and got beat. He is always talking about fixing his car up and all that ricer stuff. Ok so in automotive school, they should atleast teach the basics. He ran his car out of oil today, (civic), my other friend (3000GT and QC hemi) told me it started Knocking
really bad and was very sluggish and getting worse. So when he gets to school he tells his teacher and they go check the oil. The oil level wasnted even on the dip stick! They added oil and its still knocking......
Im waiting to hear the verdict of the damage. I mean come on! Its automotive school! They should atleast teach how and when to check the fluid levels. But i thought that was common sense?
I check my coolant, oil, and trans fluid every 2 weeks.
What about you guys?
Anyway, its past my bed time.... Later guys!

ok this guy and his dad took the civic to the dealership.. they told them it wasnt worth looking into, much less tearing into the motor... but atleast we will have another motor to take apart... ive always wanted to see what is inside a coke bottle... hahaa
They always get mad at me when i take the motors apart with 1/2" drive impact guns..... hum.

I never check my ****. Seriously I never checked my trans fluid level after I put the new trans in after I got the level right. I never really notice the rad fluid level. I never checked the oil level on the 5.3 just did oil changes religiously. Now on the 418 I check it all the time cause it burns some oil for some reason and Im too lazy to get out and diagnose what is going on. Could be cause I built the motor at 3am after drinking beer all day.
BTW if you have a NBS chevy 99+ you have a low oil level light that comes on when you are 2 1/2 quarts low. Ask me how I know

Just because someone has sense enough that they need an education doesn't mean that they have sense enough to use it. I put MOST of the people that want to spend twice as much on a 4 cyl to usually go slower than a pickup on my "your a dumb ***" list anyway. So him running out of oil and not understanding why his car was knocking makes perfect sense.

Oh, and I rarely ever check my ****. You basically don't need to on the late models. I quite wasting my time doing that a long time ago. Like 1slow01z71 said, you have too many idiot lights for the idiots and lazy asses like me. I know some people that have to add oil between changes because they loose oil from whiping it off the dipstick checking it too much.
But if you know it uses it then of course i'd check it often.

you should tell that kid to swap it a b16A into that civic, those are good motors and they are quick too....I cant believe I just said that, but it is true. That car with that engine, a nice intake, header and a tuner exhaust(not a frikken fart can) and he will have a high 13 second car if he can drive it.
I know this because I race "hornets" out at our local speedway and I have looked into those cars a little bit.
A buddy of mine had a civic hatchback with the setup i described above and that car scooted along pretty good with me driving it(he cant drive a stick because he is a moron).
