That makes a little more sense. Still seems silly to me. Like, imagine if that was how fossil refueled, how popular would the personal auto be then? Or would there just be a mass market for adapters to plug X pump into Y receptacle?

Heck maybe we just stumbled on a business idea here lmao. Making supercharger converters for other makes of EV lmao

Tesla Inc. can move forward with a lawsuit claiming that Rivian Automotive Inc. stole its trade secrets with the help of former employees of the electric carmaker.

In a tentative ruling Monday, Santa Clara Superior Court Judge William Monahan declined Rivian’s request to throw out a misappropriation of trade secrets claim. Monahan agreed to dismiss Rivian’s intentional interference in contract claim, saying the trade secrets part covered that.

The judge also declined to dismiss Tesla’s claims against seven of its former employees, all of whom the carmaker accuses of divulging trade secrets when they went to work for the rival startup.

Tesla claimed in its lawsuit, filed in July, that Rivian had hired at least 178 of its former employees.

Rivian denies any wrongdoing and says Tesla’s lawsuit is an effort to kill competition in the electric car industry.

The case is Tesla Inc. v. Rivian Automotive Inc., 20CV368472, California Superior Court, Santa Clara County (San Jose).

No, just came across this video, and thought I would add it to the thread. I doubt I will ever have an electric vehicle in my lifetime as an only vehicle. I just don't see them developing the infrastructure to create charging stations everywhere they would need to be. (Without getting into politics), Biden's *trillion dollar infrastructure plan is so we can get do highways 1.1 and not 2.0.

Right now I believe these vehicles cost about half to drive (roughly) what it costs in gas. Once these are all over the place, then fuel prices will drop. Besides, some times I like the radio off, and sometimes I like to drown out every noise when I'm going 90 with the windows down.

I do like the engineering aspect, and advancements they are making though. For me if I ever get close to 6 figures to put into a vehicle, its going into a body older than me.

Rivian's splashy IPO makes it more valuable than Ford and GM

(IPO was yesterday). It started at $78 a share, and quickly rose to over $100. As of the next morning (today), it opened at 106.75.

Rivian has a contract with Amazon to build 100,000 electric delivery vans at its factory.

Rivian has some high-profile corporate backers: Ford held a 13% stake in Rivian coming into the offering and Amazon had a 20% stake.

Hell, I'd love to have the R1S, but at $80,000 I'm out.

The R1T looks awesome but no way I'm spending that much money.
