Go to run and enter msconfig.exe. click on the startup services tab and disable all unwanted processes. I've seen so many computers running 75+ processes at all times, especially brand name computers with bloatware.

Beat me to it but this is good advice. Lots of times every time you install a program it for some reason thinks it needs to start every time windows boots up. 99% of the time you don't even use the application so there is no need to have it start with windows.

This is especially true if you own a Dell or name brand computer. They love to load up your computer will "bloat ware".

NO NO NO NO

msconfig is a diagnostic tool, NOT A REPAIR!

If shutting off a program in msconfig fixes your problem, then the problem needs to be properly resolved.

I get no less then 3 computers a week that someone ran msconfig on expecting it to fix all their problems. Then they get upset that virus/malware is still on their computer and running hidden, that network connections, USB's, and optical drives quit working (depending on model and drivers).

If anyone needs help, PM me here or on facebook. I am always happy to help my fellow PT guys.

No one said to use MSCONFIG to fix a virus or spyware. It was suggested as a tool to help the computer boot up faster by telling it not to boot certain applications that are not needed at start up.
