If you're running a 32bit Operating System. Combofix (available on download.com) is amazing. I wish they would release a 64bit version.

Malwarebytes Antimalware is a great program as well. Also available on download.com.

For Anti-virus/Anti-malware protection, we've moved to Microsoft Security Essentials. Works surprisingly well.

Malwarebytes does work very well, I have it on all my computers. It has fixed stuff that other programs never even found.

I work at a computer shop. All of the above are good programs.

Run Malwarebytes in safe mode and it will catch more things that might slip by in normal windows. Also if you are really loaded down with infections and it will only let you get in safe mode run safe mode with networking support so you can get the recent updates for malwarebytes and still be able to catch things that might slip by. Another program is called Hitmanpro, run it in safemode with networking support and delete everything it catches.

Ccleaner works well.. If you have a rootkit that all the other programs can't find download tdsskiller by kaspersky and it gets rid of them half the time.

I used to do the same. I had to fix this old man's computer several times...he kept calling back. I'd go to fix his computer and he'd close the door to the computer room so his wife wouldn't come in. After the 3rd trip I brought up his browsing history which was like his bank, espn, and a massive list of ****, literally... I was like man, if you don't want me charging you money every week to clean this up, don't go to these sites (as I pointed at the screen). He was pretty embarrassed.
