Thoughts?

The comment caught my eye, cause I've been thinkin bout this already. We're in Iraq, Afghanistan & Libya. "The United States is now fighting in three conflicts -- Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya -- while struggling under a huge budget deficit and national debt. The Pentagon also has plans to cut $78 billion in defense spending over five years."

You're doin more, and spending less. I can't see it bein possible.

And, what are U.S. Navy Growlers? Is that a unit or plane type? All I know is I wouldn't wanna be on the receiving end of any of that.

a growler (EA-18) is a navy version of an F-18 hornet. different "mods" earn them different prefixes, like the difference between a Silverado 1500 and a 2500. same type, different capabilities.

As for our involvement, generally speaking, we really only get involved when there is unjustified killing going on. We would have done the same thing had Egypt turned violent. Our national fiscal issues and perceived over-extension in global affairs have no bearing on whether or not other countries THINK we should be getting involved, or with our necessary involvement in the political and socio-economics of the world. Our internal issues are just that, ours alone. No one else cares that our dollar is falling to ****, we are still viewed as the big brother, ready to step in when someone is getting picked on. If we don't get involved in some form, when people like Kadaffi (or how ever you spell that lunatic's name) start laying waste to people, then nations that we have good relations with will rethink their involvement with us, and that would be exponentially worse in the long run.

I may not be right, but thats what I think.

Our $ woes have "no bearing" part was interesting. Thanks for Growler explanation too, great analogy.

Scott, believe it or not, I wanna hear it. That's why I posted the thread, just thought a few more would say their piece. Either way, I like to see how others perceive things, whether u, me, or whoever agrees or disagrees, learning is never a bad thing.

When you're not being a wisecracker, u can say some pretty good stuff. Ya mean if we stand to gain somethin from it ...like say, oil?

Well the fact that there are already libyans burning american flags and telling us to get out of their war is a pretty good sign that they don't want us there. What's the point of having a revolution if you have it handed to you? Almost like when you would play a game against your parents or older siblings only to hear that they let you win.

And all this crap about how we're just going to help a little here and there, we all know we're just going to get ***** deep in this thing. Our tax dollars and our soldiers lives are being tossed right into this. Is it our job as the most powerful nation in the world? There really isn't an easy answer to that. There will always be conflict and there will always be corruption.

Islams have been fighting amongst themselves for hundreds of years, we're not changing anything.

Sadly, other nations do that to our flag too; not just the ones we're fightin in. We're not wanted in a lot of countries.

While no easy answer, I'd like to see us fix our own problems 1st: Like ever-increasing debt, homelessness, & a few others. Worry here, before we go sniffing there kinda thing. But ya, it's complicated, so even that won't always work.

I agree on the always conflict part, for sure.

Longer.

But when we're at war, government contractors make billions of dollars. So why would they ever want war to stop?

Until that **** obama got control of the national credit card. Not saying our country was in the best of shape before he was elected, but he has definitely done a lot more damage than good.
