to hell with satalite or cable

my dad got 2 of the new boxs for the cross over to digital.
on regular rabbit ears he had 7 channels, local news and stuff.
went to lows, picked up some stuff for better reception, set my
dad up and holy shit.
i must have counted 37 digital channels in english and another 18
in spanish.
news, weather, sports, movies, game shows, im ready to give up
my dish now.
it was nbc 1 2 3, abc 1 2 3 cbs 1 2 fox 1 2 WB 1 2 3 pbs 1 2 and so on.
most came in at 480i some was at 720 and 2 on wb came in at 1080i.
we sat and watch some of the hocky game on wb and fliped it over
to nbc 2 and watched bald headed howy on a new show called how we did that.

what did he get from lowes for better recption. my digital box only gets 13 channels. thats why i never watch TV.

PappyDan 05-09-2009 06:58 PM

antanna, cables for both boxs, spliter, poles, clips, and some zip ties.
signal comes in at 100% on every channel now.
he's happy as can be, abc has local news and stuff, a movie channel, and the all weather channel.

Wish I could do the same, but the coverage here sucks balls. All there is here is CBS, NBC, FOX and sometimes ABC will come through clear if conditions are just right. No PBS, no WB, etc.

This site shows all the channels in your area and where the towers are.

I have been setting these up for people. In fact, I have several digital boxes here. Once they are setup right, it is pretty incredible what they get, and how nice it looks. I have thought about dumping my cable in favor of the digital air tv. The only thing stopping me is speed channel and BBC for watching top gear. If I could find full episodes online, I think I would go ahead and make the jump.

Another thing, a basic netflix account gives you unlimited online instant movie viewing through their website. They sell a box, for $99, that plugs into your tv and lets you view those movie's on the tv. Sounds pretty killer to me. Watch what you want, when you want for $9 a month.

1000 channels, nothing on.

speed channel is good some times, with BBC for top gear like cttandy, discovery for deadlest catch and myth busters. everything else is pooh!

I am in withdrawal, no new top gear episodes in 4 or 5 weeks now. I have seen all the re-runs on-demand about 20 times. I need new episodes. The tv is worthless to me without it.

I seldom even watch regular tv, I mostly watch the free on-demand stuff.
