Flaking comp cam lobes

Not sure where to post this up on . . . custom cam that was in a FBO 08 5.3

This was in a low mile 5.3 with TSP heads, LS7 lifters. Had a few dyno pulls, few trips at the track, mostly driven to work in 20 minute trips.

got a hold of comp this morning . . . I'll post up on what happens. This is my 4th cam of the year to see something like this. There was no noises or chattering going on. Cam was pulled to change and go to a smaller cam.

Last picture shows a dip in the lobe on the lift side of the lobe

Thanks Tootall, keep us posted. Sure would like an explanation for this crap, but I doubt I'll ever trust Comp again after all the QC problems these past few years.

Oh god this makes me nervous...

Damn...good job Comp. Glad I went with a Lunati cam my second time around. Keep us posted on what their explanation of this is. I'm sure they will blame it on install error or other parts causing the problem.

I got a call shortly after posting this . . . they gave me an RMA, and their warentee guy wants to "inspect" the cam . . . we'll see

Here's another cam that I was talking about. This cam out of my truck after the theft recovery. There's considerable more mileage on this one, but it shows the same pitting and flaking on the cam. This one was reground, but it was at my cost.

This cam was a TSP Torquer V2, LQ4 with L92 heads
