I'm pretty sure many areas of the country are laying off law enforcement/fire fighters. Anything that is funded by taxpayers is going to be some of the first to see the effects in a recession.

Of the technical fields, of which my lab is a part of, we keep seeing more and more people come through. I'm sure all fields are growing, but your most popular ones are always going to be the technical based. Face it, you can't run a country's infrastructure with literature or history degrees.
I don't know about that one, cause a lot of folks will just make a one time investment in a firearm and consider themselves "safe" such that they won't have to keep paying for an alarm service.
