Default 454ss problems

back in june i got it running good and took it to the track to get some runs in before i tore it apart. pulled up to the water box on my first run, got the tires smoking good and it popped into neutral and floated the valves and started ticking. i babied it the rest of the day, running at no more than 3/4 throttle and managed a 9.4 (1/8 mile track). decided to pull the valve covers yesterday just to see how it looked....#7 intake rocker arm was just laying on the head, the stud broke....i was only running on 7 cylinders at the track! just went and picked up a new stud, $5, gonna put it back together and see if thats all that was wrong with it so i can sell the motor when i pull it. im just glad it was something cheap, hopefully.

Those ole' motors are tough... Run a compression test, put it back together and go with it.
