A good tank of gas?
Long story short my truck has been down for 14 months, it had ~12-15 gallons of 93 octane in which obviously isnt going to be good stuff. So I added 10 gallons of 101 octane along with some STP fuel treatment and a bottle of gumout fuel system treatment since I figure the lines could be gummed up a bit. Im replacing the line from the filter on to the rails and a new set of rails etc. Im just wondering if this tank of gas is going to be good enough to break in my new motor. I dont know how bad the gas detiorated(sp?) over 14 mo. Ill have HPT hooked up to make sure I dont get any KR.

It probably had closer to 10 gallons in it, I couldnt get any more out with the hose I had to syphon the gas out, Im just guessing how much was in there because when I swapped out the fuel pump it had about 2/3 to 3/4 of a tank. So that should be about 14gallons but that was just eyeballing it. Im thinking about putting 5 more gallons of 101 in it.

If you had Fuel stabilizer in it, it would be Okay. if it was a summer mix and you didn't have fuel line open to vent it, it'll probably be okay, cause it's made to Not evaporate fast.. But the safe thing is to disconnect a line and let the pump get it out, I'm sure you have a broke friend that would love it (thats what I do to my boat every year) and it'll guarantee you success with the new setup.. Lines that where full will probably be okay, it's where it had a chance to evaporate and crust/jell up thats a prob...Just my .02, but 20 minutes work will ensure success...

I just did some reading and it seems I will be ok. It is not going to be the best fuel I have ever burned through my truck but it should be ok according to a couple of different sites. Im going to purge the lines of a couple gallons before I start sending gas to the motor to make sure there isnt any gunk in the lines. Ill burn a few gallons out of it then throw some fresh 93 in there. Main thing I need to watch for is knock and bad pinging.

i had some old fuel in my tank , about 5 gallons for 6 months and it started and ran fine but i got it to the gas station right after wards. from what i read my fuel only lost some octane and thats about it.
