June '09 TOTM: CUERVA
20 Attachment(s)
Cuerva 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3 that I bought on mid 2004. I had sworn not to ever get another black vehicle but after a while of trying to find a descent looking truck, this one seemed to be the best and cleanest I found despite it's 109k. Afterall it was just going to be a daily driver to go back and forth to work and haul stuff around without having to borrow one when needed. Only mods I had in mind were a descent system and a drop kit. That said, I got her droped right away and wrapped my 04 Tahoe's 17's on some Nitto's. Attachment 141104 Attachment 141105 Well, as we all know it didn't stop there eventhough sometimes I wish it had. 1st time out to the track that same summer it ran 15.0's only on the flowmasters and 3.42's, so there's where the urge for more power started kicking in. Went thru several exhaust setups, 3 transmissions, several sets of tires and lots of trips to the local track. Truck finally wound up running 12.9's N/A with TR220/220 114, 918s, 7.4" hardened pushrods, K&N FIPK, E-Fans, 160 t-stat, MSD wires, ASP Crank Pulley, Pacesetter LT's, Full Single 3" Exhaust W/Borla and 3.5" E-Cutout, Fully Built 60E, 3k Vig T/C, 4.10's with Eaton Posi. Basically all the boltons and cam... Attachment 141106 While getting the truck to run faster, the interior also got some goodies. Little stuff such as sound system, two tone leather seats and a center console that came in handy to store the 10lbs bottle for the F1 TNT Nitrous Kit; Which wound up taking her to run 11.8's N/A with lots of traction issues. Attachment 141107 Attachment 141108 Attachment 141109 Attachment 141110 Attachment 141111 Truck got a few more changes; New paintjob, some colormatching, rollpan and the HD Hood. Attachment 141112 Attachment 141113 Despite the odometer reading 131k and the truck still running pretty strong I wanted more. I wanted a new setup on a fresher engine, preferably an LQ9 which only meant more $$$ out the door. My wife would tell me to just buy me a Vette and be done with, but I am not a car guy. Plus, if I got a car and sold the truck I wouldn't be able to haul my other toy Attachment 141114 Finally, I got my hands on a friend's LQ9 with 32k from his totalled 05 SS. Out went the 5.3 and in with the 6.0 and supporting mods....We alll know there's never an end to this....plus the 5.3 could go out any minute, or so I told the wife........ With this setup, my truck ran 12.0 @ 111mph w/1.63 60' N/A. Attachment 141115 As you can see a few more mods/changes here and there have made their way into the truck; Ported Fast 92/92, Caltracks, dropped it some more and added NNBs 20's along with other things such as full hd front and custom painted ghost stripes. Attachment 141116 Attachment 141117 Attachment 141118 Attachment 141119 Attachment 141120 [B]How it sits as of now........for now As far as track times, haven't ran it much lately. It's ran 11.51 @ 120mph on 100 shot running on front 20's and 28x10x16 Hoosiers on rear, full weight. After all, it's still my daily driver.
