4L70E are known for transmission problems, run a good trans cooler and hope for the best, any extra power is gonna hurt the life of the trans, just a matter of time before they go. As for the oiling issue im not sure if its in the 5.3's or not but the oil tube on the TBSS I know is located at the front of the pan and on hard launches it sloshes to the back and starves the pickup tube of oil.

I actually just bought an 2005 97-x with a rod knock and I agree with all her info here. I know there is a baffle that someone makes that helps with the sloshing. Also they are correct that it's a gen 4 but your 06 is a 24x crank so keep that in mind. I'm in the process of swapping a gen 3 5.3 into mine at the moment.

I had a 9-7x Aero for a short time. It was a great vehicle but only averaged about 14mpg with mixed driving.
The oil starvation issues generally stem from HARD acceleration from loading up the trans with the brake to 2-3k and then matting it (because racecar). Not launching it will help the trans live a normal life.
The LS engines also have a tendency to consume some oil. Keeping an eye on the oil level and either topping it off or adjusting your oil change intervals are important.
I would also advise to use 7 quarts when refilling.
