As the title says I think she makea the break. I was driving home from work last night and the truck started making a squeaking noise from the passenger side and running like ****. My only mods are a cat back corsa. No tuning or anything. Any guesses as to the cause? Mine is its got a spun bearing. Btw 123k miles and metal in the oil.

Kinda weird for a engine to **** out under just normal conditions. If it is metal in the oil thats not a good thing, LOL. I am not sure I ever heard a bearing squeak, it is more of a hollow sounds knock. Does it match the engine RPMS? Try taking the serp belt off and starting it to make sure it is def coming from the block. No engine lights came on ?

No engine light and the noise does match rpm. The thing that gets me is the metal in the oil. I would think water pump but that would leak and wouldn't explain the oil. I would think possibly the flex plate but again that doesn't explain the oil.

Yes they do. The intermediate shaft for the AWD goes right through the middle of the pan. So if you would look at the side of the engine it looks like a large whole all the way through the center of the pan. They even put this pan on the 2wd models from what I have heard.
Most people to counter act this will run 1 if not 2 quarts high. So when getting on it the oil will still feed the pick up tube on the front end of the pan.
So the pan the way it is, combined with the LS2's natural ability to suck oil in to the intake manifold from the valve cover is just a bad combo. If your a quart or two low which can easily happen by a oil change depending on how much you beat on it would mean bye bye motor.

That's exactly what I think happened. I was driving home one night and the oil light flash, when I got home and checked it it was 2qts low. Three weeks later, rod knock. Can and how do I fix this oil issue so it doesn't happen again?
