Default tire hight with a 3" lift

Im debating on lifting my truck. The max I can do is a 3" lift due to the awd. I have 285/70-17 which make about a 32.7" tire on stock suspension. could I fit a 35x12.5 without to much rubbing.

You may have to to a little bit of trimming but I think you'll be fine. My buddy and I lowered his Dmax about 2 inches onto 35's and we only had to trim a little bit off the inside of the fender.

No. It takes a 6 inch lift with a little trimming to fit 35's on your truck.

not completely true...i had an 03 z-71 with a 3" body lift on 35x12.5's...only time it rubbed was at full turn while reversing, otherwise they fit fine. they would fit alot better with a 6" lift but you can fit them with a 3". Just dont go crazy with the width of the tire...i wouldnt go any more than a 12.5 width or they will probably rub worse. How exaclty are you achieving the 3" of lift though...body lift and/or torsion bars or suspension?

3 inch body lift plus cranked torsion bars is not the same as 3 inch suspension lift. You probably had 5 inches of total lift, and had a little bit of rubbing issues.

go with a 315/70/17, thats a little more then 34" tire. should look good, but kill performance...

nope, my torsion bars were still set at the stock height because i didnt want the truck to ride like a brick! haha. i agree with DLT though, a 315/70/17 would be a good tire size to go with unless you want to run a bigger wheel.

the lift will be a skyjacker lift kit. or would it be better to do a 3" body lift with a leveling kit. for a total of around 4.5-5" all around

I did a body lift with cranked T bars and I have 35's and no rubbing once so ever, the body lift is cheaper but you will have to live with seeing your frame every day... Some like it and some don't. It all boils down to personal preference. IMO a 3" lift is a waste of money you mine as well just spend a few hundred more and do a 6" suspension lift.

my truck is awd so i cant do a 6in lift because of the cv angles. i would have to spend alot more to drop the front diff and everything else so its not worth it. so im pretty much stuck with a 3in lift and34in tires if i do lift my truck.
