My only dislike about the heavy halfs/1500HD's is the terrible fuel mileage the extra weight. Expect 10-15 mpg on avg compared to 15-20mpg in a regular half ton. The 6.0 with factory 4.10's is kinda thirsty.

cclb here.......
short bed sucks if you use the bed fyi. 90% of the things you buy when it comes to homes is 8 foot so you can close your gate in a long bed and if you have a cover you can keep it dry and secured both. I will say if you buy a 6l90e truck 07.5 up you will see better mpg. also the 07.5 hds have more steering travel lock to lock so they are easier to park. my old truck was a 04 ccsb 2500. heavy half and 2500hd is so little different mpg and ride wise idk if I just wouldn't get the 2500 really you loose nothing but gain payload. after 07 its no more anyhow. also the long beds have 36 gallon tanks vs the 26. |

idk yet how it does im sure its fine. it hauls loads like its nothing. I was scared it wouldn't be enough going from diesel to gas but so far im 100% happier with it over my diesel.

I think the LWB is much more stable, I haul my wife's 7200lb truck. I am about 22,000lbs combined.

Moneypitt- what a awesome pic and a nice setup you have right there!! Hate I can't buy a NEW truck.
Hillbilly- I wanted a diesel but they cost more at the lot abd more to maintain. I only plan on towing 4 times a year. Twice to Kentucky.... 5 hours each way north of me and twice to Louisiana twice a year which is 6 hours away from me each way. I want to get a truck that'll get the job done but not break the bank doing so. I'll say my camaro on a trailer will be 5500 pounds max. I'm thinkin hard about buying a square body and installing a LS motor. Time will tell. |

Thanks, my wife bracket races so I had to get something together to tow her to the track. She has gone to the NHRA div 6 championships the last two years. Last year was a 11 hour trip to Idaho. The 2013 tow rig I got used with 26,000 miles on it for $36,000.
